Literature Text

Pinned underneath the magnifying glass too long,
Children’s clay sculptures have begun to crack and shatter
Too bad all the glue’s been eaten by the children
g-l-u-e
Letters swirling in her alphabet soup,
Gone with a single swallow
Burning the roof and the attic and the stairs and the basement
Of her mouth.
Sick enough to write an epic,
With failing strength to flee the pages as they fall
Entering the atmospheric pressure while rekindling the fire
One more round of applause for physics
He’s been so kind to visit our school and speak riddles at us today
One last round
Encircling the echoes of the stomach thundering
With acid raindrops dripping slow;
Ebony feathers from the wings of ravens
Digesting the glue and blood with a dash
Of cleverly spotted mushrooms
Mixing the perfect maggot genocide for midnight’s snack
Consumed by still, stony statuettes.
About week old. Never got around to putting it up.
